5 SIMPLE WAYS TO DEFEND YOURSELF AGAINST CYBER ATTACKS
Use technology and your common sense to stay safe online whether you're at work, school, or anywhere else.
  1. Determine whether you have ever been a victim of a data breach. Change those passwords for any accounts that it suggests may have been compromised.

2.VERIFY THE POWER OF YOUR PASSWORDS Test the strength of your passwords and use something similar to your original password to test its strength.

Remember that a longer password is more secure when choosing one. A secure password has at least 12 characters and is challenging to crack.
The best way to make a long password that you won't forget is to use a sentence.

3. DON'T USE THESE PASSWORDS.

password
987654321
123123
111111
QWERTY
123456 (or any chronologically-ordered numbers)

4. BELIEVE NO ONE (ON EMAILS)

Although it may sound a little severe, always keep an eye out for phoney emails and corrupted websites (spam and phishing). Your information is at risk when you interact with them, and you risk downloading malware. Remember:

Never open emails from unknown senders
Deleted attachments from unforeseen emails
Save yourself the risky clicks and enter the address into your browser.

5. SECURE YOUR DEVICE

Your personal information, money, and valuable data like images and texts could be taken if your mobile device is left unattended, misplaced, or stolen.

Secure your devices by:

Installing Virus Protection Software
Setting a password, gesture, or fingerprint that must be used to unlock, making the device password-required before applications are installed, hiding Bluetooth when not in use, turning off automatic network connection, and, if your device supports it, enabling remote locking and/or wiping functions.
